Hello all. It’s been a busy fun filled year so far. Most recently Jess and I bought a house and I’m starting a new job with the Maine Dept. of Labor. I will be working for the CareerCenter helping recently unemployed people find work, and outreaching to businesses to help incentivise them to create new jobs by taking advantage of the current services and new programs the State has to offer. I am really excited about the job, although I’m still flipping out about the house and how nice it is compared to the market and what I paid. Much more to come over the next few months so stay tuned.

This recipe is for a New York kind of style cheesecake. Just my take which was inspired by Jess’s family secret recipe, which will remain secret. There really is no such thing as a cheap cheesecake, really, but this isn’t too bad on the wallet and tastes pretty darn good. I am also experimenting on other cheesecake and will upload recipes as I go.

1 ready made gram cracker pie crust tin

1, 8 ounce package of cream cheese

2/3 cup sour cream

1 tea spoon vanilla extract

2 eggs

1/2 a cup a sugar

2 teaspoons 100% lemon juice

Drop all ingredients into blender, blend well until it is a fine liquid you can pour into the pie tin. Preheat oven to 350, and let the cake gooo sit for a bit to let out the air bubbles out. Put it in the oven and bake 10 to 15 minutes and check on it. It is done when you can’t get the center to jiggle and/or when the edges just start to turn yellow. This can take anywhere from 12 minutes to a half hour depending on your oven. Now here is the trick to help keep the cake from splitting. When the cake is done or near done shut off the oven but leave the cake in it. Just turn it off and leave it, and let the over cool down naturally for several hours (3-5 hours depending). After that take it out and refrigerate, and keep in mind cheesecake tastes better with age. Peek flavor usually comes around day 3 after being in the fridge.

I’m back from Georgia after working in the runoff election down there. It is really different working on a campaign with an abundance of money, really different. My voice is a little hoarse after several 12 hour plus days making calls for Senator Chambliss on behalf of the Republican party of Georgia. Ugh, also the very cold damp weather wasn’t kind to my lungs, but Saxby Chambliss won so the Republicans keep the filibuster, YAY.

I am also still looking for a job, had an interview today which went well I think, so we’ll see what comes of it. Will make some other changes to the website over the next couple of days so be on the look out for that. I am hoping something on the job front will work out. I am also working on cheese cakes, I like cheese cake, and for some strange reason woke up one morning possessed to make cheese cakes, so be on the look out for that as well.

Got up at 6:30am to be down in the lobby by 7:15am, where I was given a GPS and the keys to a 15 passenger van. I then had the joy of figuring out how to get team Maine to the victory office, a minor expedition in of it self particularly in the a foreign city in the rain. We had Chick-Fil-A for lunch, OMG big mistake, that is some serious digestion diagnostic testing, LOL. Spent the morning and evening making hundreds of phone calls, and the afternoon hitting nearly 500 doors. We didn’t finish up till after 9pm, so I am very tired. We spent most of the day making fun of the Chick-Fil-A sandwiches, and we even came up with movie idea involving aliens. Tomorrow should be fun, will report more later.

Am on the road again for the GOP cause, this time in Atlanta Georgia for the US Senate runoff election. Georgia has a law that the winner of an election must be by a majority, so if you don’t get it than the top two vote getters go head to head in a runoff. The runoff election is between Republican incumbent Saxby Chambliss and Democratic challenger Jim Martin. I am working technically for the RNC via the Georgia Republican Party, so however that works, but all expenses paid plus I’ll make a little bank. Traveling down on black friday was not that bad, and the only problem I had was changing planes in Boston. My connecting plane was late because a professional sports team hijacked it, or borrowed it for something, not sure which team. Anyway it was nearly an hour late, than once we got out to taxi a faulty indicator light kept us on the runway for another hour. Finally made it safe and sound and unlike Minneapolis the hotel has free internet, woohoo. Now have to be up and ready to work by 7:15am, more later.

I will also upload my resume up to the site here in a bit, and maybe some other info. Also on the political front, I have agreed to go work for a few days down in Georgia for the RNC to help in the US Senate run off election. It’s only five days and they’ll probably work me like a rented mule, but I think it will be fun, and who knows what come of it.

Much to come I hope.

The results are finally in after nearly 12 hours or so, Sutherland 2122 and I got 1918, a difference of 5%. I’m not totally positive if every last town has reported in, but there aren’t enough votes out there remaining to make up that gap. I called Rep. Sutherland and congratulated her on her hard fought and well earned victory. It was was tough and we knew it was going to be up hill, and I really do appreciate all the help. Thank you all again so much, and remember tomorrow is another day.
