Sunday – Change of Agenda
After getting to bed around 2am (gotta love 24 hour days), we got up around 9am to get our credentials which are very nice (different ones for each day for security purposes). Wasn’t too much going on at that point so we walked to the metro station and went to the Mall of America. WOW. The mall is really something else, and it is just so huge and crazy it defies belief. When we got back they had an updated the schedule due to the hurricane, so things will be toned down at least for Monday. The change in security was also very noticeable, as of now before we can get on the elevator to our rooms we have to show proof as guests, and on top of that each floor has a posted security officer.
Basically though the schedule has been reduced to business only as all the speeches for Monday have been canceled, but we are hoping the Hurricane won’t be that bad and New Orleans will be spared and than hopefully we can get back to putting out our message. After the update we went over to catch the premier of the film An American Carol. On the way we ran into some Code Pink protesters, which was just very odd but interesting. The movie was pretty awesome and we got pretty close to Jon Voight who had a cameo in the movie, and who was here to help promote the film and the conservative message. The whole experience was just wicked, so please check out my film review of the movie.
After that we went to the convention delegate welcome party which was very nice. I was interviewed by a German news agency, so sometime today I’ll be on German television. I was asked how I felt about Sarah Palin and if I felt she had enough experience. Personally I was doing cartwheels Friday morning and feel very strongly she has more experience than Barak Obama. Beyond that we called it an early night, also I did get some great video of the protesters and some other pictures but am having trouble uploading them.
I do hope I can get that sorted out as I do have a lot of great footage. My experience so far has been really great, and by far one of the cleanest cities I have ever been to. The metro system is also one of nicest I have been on in the world, albeit not very expansive but still very nice and very inexpensive.
More later.
